River Advisory Committee meeting canceled

The Carson River Advisory Committee meeting scheduled for today has been canceled.

The next meeting is scheduled for Feb. 7.

Carson City Democrats to hear computer expert

The Carson City Democrats will meet at 7 p.m. tonight at 709 E. Robinson St. Ron Norton, founder of Computer Corps, will be the guest speaker.

Carson City Democratic Central Committee meets the first Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. in the State of Nevada Employees Association Conference Room, corner of Robinson and Roop. Scrapbooking class Thursday at senior center

There will be a class on preserving photos into albums at 10 a.m. Thursday in the Jobs Peak Room of the Carson City Senior Citizens Center. Cost is $5. Participants should bring a couple of packs of photos to make a sampler. For information, call 885-8230.

Free dance lessons offered every Wednesday

Free dance lessons are offered for seniors aged 70 and older at 10:30 a.m. every Wednesday at World Gym on Fairview Drive. Membership is not necessary.

Emblem Club hosts murder mystery dinner Saturday

The Carson City Emblem Club will present "The Mafia Murders" at 5 p.m. Saturday at the Elks Lodge, 515 N. Nevada St. Cocktails will be available at 5 p.m., dinner will be at 6:30 p.m. The mystery play is at 6:45 p.m.. The menu is lasagna, salad, garlic bread and spumoni ice cream. Emblem Club to hold bowling tournament

The Carson City Emblem Club will host a bowling tournament beginning at noon at the Piñon Plaza lanes Jan. 14.

The tournament is four-person teams, no-tap. Cost is $60 per team pre-registered; $75 day of tournament. Raffle tickets and prizes are also available. For a signup sheet, call 883-9041 or 720-9410. Signup sheets must be returned by Sunday.

Happy Senior Tours to visit John Ascuaga's

Happy Senior Tours takes its monthly trip Jan. 10 to John Ascuaga's Nugget in Sparks.

The bus leaves at 8:15 a.m. from the east side of the Carson City Senior Citizens Center, 911 Beverly Drive. Cost of the trip is $16 per person and must be paid by Monday.
