A celebration of life for Joel Mark Hodes, 57, will be 11 a.m. Feb. 4 at the Schurz Elementary School.
Mr. Hodes died Dec. 23, 2006. He was born May 15, 1949, in Syracuse, N.Y., to Myer and Anna Hodes.
He received his bachelor's degree from California State University, Northridge, and a master's in education from California Lutheran College in 1978.
He worked as a teacher and administrator for the Schurz Elementary School for 32 years. He coached the boys and girls basketball team for many years.
He was a second lieutenant in Civil Air Patrol.
Mr. Hodes enjoyed rock climbing, sailing, volleyball, basketball, water skiing, piloting a plane and snow skiing.
Among his survivors are his wife of 29 years, Donna Glazier; daughters Tina Uchytil, Jessica Miles, Lucella Glacier and Mandy Glazier; sister, Susan Isaksen; 10 grandchildren; one niece, one nephew, and several extended-family members.

Frietas Rupracht Funeral Home in Yerington is in charge of arrangements.
