A graveside service with military honors for Frank Douglas "Doug" Hallas, 57, a Carson City resident since 1976, will be 1 p.m. Jan. 27 at Oakwood Memorial Park in Chatsworth, Calif.
He died Jan. 4, 2007.
Mr. Hallas was born Jan. 6, 1949, in Inglewood, Calif., to Frank B. and Doris M. Robinson Hallas.
He worked in computer programming for the state before retiring.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He earned a Purple Heart and a Medal of Valor before his discharge Jan. 1, 1974.
He was a member of the 3rd/5th Armored Calvary Black Knights, and was active in veteran affairs. He was the Webmaster for an organization that brought public awareness to combat-related illnesses. He suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder and multiple sclerosis.
Among his survivors are his son, Jesse of Long Beach, Calif.; daughters Samantha and Emily of Carson City; brothers Daniel of La Manzanilla, Mexico, David of Laguna Niguel, Calif., Don of Carlsbad, Calif., Daryl of Phoenix and Duane of Show Low, Ariz.; sisters Drew Kopcha and Dori Pro, both of Las Vegas, and Diane Feia of Phoenix;, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial donations may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
