Knights of Columbus winners are named

Ten boys and girls from Carson City, ages 10 to 14 were named local champions of Saturday's Knights of Columbus Free Throw Championship at Carson Middle School. The winners advanced to the district competition to be held Feb. 24 in Dayton.

Katelynn Roll was the 10 year-old girls' champion and Jimmy Redlark was the winner of the 10 year-old boys' division. In the 11 year-olds' bracket, Makayla Ragnone was the girls' champion and Andy Cooper was the boys' champion. 12 year-old winners in the girls' and boys' divisions were Courtney Hack and Matt Nolan. The 13 year-old girls' division was won by Lauren Ragsdale and the boys' by Adam Whitt. Fourteen year-old champions were Whitney Nash in the girls' bracket and Matt Cooper in the boys.

Scholars and Champions signups

The Scholars and Champions Youth Football League has scheduled signups for its fourth season.

There will be three divisions for ages 8-10, 11-12 and 13-14 for football and cheerleading. All games are held on Sundays at Carson High.

Signups will be held from 6-9 p.m. January 31 and Feb. 7 at the Scholars and Champions office, 114 W. Telegraph Avenue next to Mo and Sluggo's. Fee is $100 and participants are allowed to keep their jersey.

For the first time, the league will hold a draft with a brief skills evaluation in February in an effort to make the teams evenly matched. Practice begins in early March and games will run from April to before Memorial Day. For more information, call 885-TEAM.

Carson softball signups scheduled

Registration for the Carson Girls Softball spring league has been scheduled. All signups will be held at the Crason City Community Center. The signup schedule is:

6-8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 25; 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 27; 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 3.
