National 10-11s beat South Tahoe

The Carson National 10-11-year-old all-stars earned their first win of the tournament on Monday with a hard-earned 13-10 victory against South Tahoe.

"All the kids played a part in this one," manager John Carlson said.

Starting pitcher Nate Cotroneo pitched a solid 3.2 innings, striking out three and allowing six hits. The infield made several key plays.

Tristian Bakkedahl made a diving stop and threw out a runner from his knees and Arnaldo Lamas and Evan Carlson also played well defensively. Late in the game, Alex Borgman made a nice play at third to stop a rally.

In the outfield, Jayson Reynalds, Jacob Roll, Jay Milligan, Travis Summers and Dalton Butler all played well. Michael Patrick also threw out a runner at second from the outfield. Butler came on to pitch 2.1 innings in relief, allowing five hits and striking out two to pick up the save.

Nevan Elliott with 4-for-4 with two doubles and a towering home run. Borgman went 2-for-4 with a homer, Butler was 3-for-4 with two doubles, Summers went 2-for-2 with a double, Roll doubled and Milligan and Carlson each added a hit.

"Everyone got the bat on teh ball," coach John Bakkedahl said. "The kids all played very well."

The team will conclude round-robin play at 8 p.m. Thursday at the Ranchos Aspen Park in Gardnerville. A win would guarantee the Nationals a berth into the single elimination quarterfinals.
