Dog-obedience class begins tonight


Guy Yeaman is conducting a dog obedience class at 6:30 p.m., Tuesdays beginning tonight at the Fuji Park Exhibit Hall. Each dog needs a choke chain and a fabric or leather lead. Dogs must be at least 4 months old and current on their shots. Cost for the six-week session is $75. Call 265-4530.




Musical summer safari camp at kids' museum


Wild Horse Children's Theater, in collaboration with the Children's Museum of Northern Nevada, is now taking sign-ups for Summer on Broadway 2007: "Musical Summer Safari." This two- week summer camp is today through July 27 and will be a fun theater experience for children in grades K though 8.


Children will work with theater professionals to explore theater through acting, dancing/movement, and singing. Students will also participate in art projects that will be used in the final production. The final production will be one of the musicals listed below. Performances for both musicals will be July 27,28, 29 and Aug. 3, 4, and 5 at the Children's Museum of Northern Nevada.


Wild Horse "Ponies" (grades K-3) will meet Monday through Friday from 10 a.m.-noon. Their production will be "Jungle Party Tonight", a 15- minute mini-musical filled with lions, monkeys, kangaroos, and other familiar jungle animals.


Wild Horse "Colts" (grades 4-8) will meet 1-4 p.m. Monday through Friday. They will be rehearsing Disney's "Jungle Book Kids," one of Disney's most beloved classics with all the familiar characters and songs such as "The Bare Necessities" and "I Wanna Be Like You."

CHS class of 1957 celebrating this weekend


The graduating class of 1957 will celebrate its 50th Class Reunion with a dinner-dance Friday and a picnic on Saturday.


There are still some members of the Class of '57 missing: Janet Burns, Pat Casimero, Pat Fitzgerald, Leroy Francl, Bob Frank, Leona Hunt, and Linda Loy. If anyone knows the whereabouts of these people, contact 882-8244. For reservations and further information, call 882-8244.

Japanese paper-folding presentation at library


Origami will be featured at the Douglas County Public Library in Minden on at 6:45 p.m. today. Dennis Little has shared his hobby of Japanese paper folding for many years at the library. He will tell the history of origami and bring examples of his projects. During past programs fish, Olympic medals, cranes, boxes, and other items were made. Children and adults are welcome. Parents may help younger children with their projects. Call 782-9841.

Weight-loss program begins tonight at Renown


Renown Health Management Services will host its third installment of its weight-loss program beginning with an orientation tonight. The 10-week program is July 24 to Sept. 25 5:30-7 p.m. Tuesdays at the Center for Advanced Medicine B, 1500 E. Second St., Suite 402, at Renown Regional Medical Center.
