A funeral service for Alanah Jean Woody, 51, a 17-year resident of Minden, will be 2 p.m. Thursday at FitzHenry's Carson Valley Funeral Home.
Mrs. Woody died July 19, 2007, in Reno. She was born March 24, 1956, to H. Eugene Woody and Lola Woody in Modesto, Calif. She married Angus R. Quinlan on Aug. 28, 2004, in Las Vegas.
She earned her bachelor's and master's of arts degrees in anthropology from the University of Nevada, Reno and a doctorate degree in archaeology from the University of Southampton, England. She was an archaeologist and worked as the executive director of the Nevada Rock Art Foundation. She was an advocate for the protection of rock art in the desert West and worked to develop the public interest in its preservation.
She was preceded in death by her mother in April 2001 in Minden.
Among her survivors are her husband of Minden; son, Christopher Woody, of Gardnerville; father of Modesto; brother and sister-in-law, Duane L. and Ginny Woody, of Westfield, Mass.; and brother, Dwight J. Woody, of Delhi, Calif.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be given to the charity of your choice.
FitzHenry's Carson Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
