Clarence Oliver Berger, 95, a lifetime resident of Carson City, died July 25, 2007, at Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Berger was born May 16, 1912, to Joseph Berger and Parnie Smith Berger, in Carson City, in the watermaster house in Lakeview. He married Martha "Betty" Lewis on March 15, 1942, in Carson City.

He retired in May 1967 from the U.S. Postal Service after 33 years. He served in the U.S. Marines from June 18, 1942, to Sept. 26, 1945. He was active with the National Rifle Association, the Nevada State Rifle Association and the Carson City Rifle Club.

He enjoyed working with wood, tinkering with cars and boats, hunting, fishing working around the house and yard.

He was preceded in death by sisters Zylpha Potter and Gladys Kramer; brothers Harold, Frank and George Berger; nieces Eleanor Atherton and Joanne Jacques; nephews Edward Potter, Alva Lawritzen, Donald Kramer and Robert Berger.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years; sister Emma Slade of Carson City; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Berger's name to your favorite charity.

Capitol City Cremation is in charge of arrangements.
