'Dirty Dog Wash' ready for action

The 2007 Dirty Dog Wash has dogs across Northern Nevada running in packs to be first in line for a dog wash and the treats that follow.

The Dirty Dog Wash will take place at the Douglas County Senior Center at 2300 Meadow Lane in Gardnerville from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. today.

Dog washes, nail trims, pet health consultations, pet socialization opportunities and raffle prizes will be available. Cash donations benefit the Douglas Animal Welfare Group. Gently used or new pet supplies such as crates, beds, collars, leashes, bowls, etc. will be accepted for donation or trade.

Dr. Linda Miner, other local vets and vet techs and DAWG volunteers offer their expertise throughout the day.

McClain's Mobile Music and DJ Service, Max's Pet Supplies and Miss Douglas County 2007 Christy Swartz will provide music and fun doggie games, prizes and treats.

Hot dogs, cold beverages and frozen treats will be available for purchase.

The non-profit group DAWG uses the donations to help improve the lives of animals at the Douglas County Animal Shelter.
