The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary (USCGA) Flotilla 03-05 (Carson City, Sparks, Reno) is offering a boating class on Aug. 4 at Truckee Meadows Community College, Room No. 210, Red Mountain Building, 7000 Dandini Blvd. in Reno.
The cost to attend is $25 per person and $10 for each additional family member.
The class will begin at 8:30 in the morning and it is an all-day class. The subjects covered will include: Weather, communications, tying knots, docking procedures, first aid, navigation, etc.
You will receive two certificates on passing your final exam: One from the USCGA and one from the Nevada Department of Wildlife.
In addition, The USCGA Vessel Safety Check is offered free to all boaters. Their professionals will check the safety features of your vessels and if there is a problem, you are told how to correct it, without a penalty.
