Jack Calvert

A funeral for Jack Calvert, 75, a Carson City resident for the past 40 years, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Walton's Chapel of the Valley.

Visitation will be from noon-2 p.m. Tuesday at Walton's.

Mr. Calvert died June 13, 2007, in Carson City. He was born Jan. 19, 1932, in Los Angeles, to Lawrence and Eva Calvert.

He worked for the state of Nevada for 32 years as a civil engineer, traveling across the state, before retiring in 1987.

He was a member of Gold Prospectors Association of America, the National Institute of Engineering Technology, Eagles Aerie No. 1006, State of Nevada Employers Association and the Covered Bridge Society of Oregon. He was active in many Northern Nevada CB radio clubs and his handle was "Hangover." He was a life scout in the Boy Scouts of America. He enjoyed camping, gold prospecting, the ocean, fishing, his family and his dog Pepper.

He served in the U.S. Army.

He was preceded in death by his wife Alice in 1999.

Among his survivors are son and daughter-in-law Valdo and Debbie Calvert of Minnetonka, Minn.; son Rick Lee of Carson City; daughter Susan Palmer of Carson City; grandchildren Zachary Palmer of Carson City and Benjamin Calvert and Rachel Calvert of Minnetonka; one great-grandson and numerous cousins.

Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.
