Dynamite found in shed safely destroyed

Residents have been allowed home after being evacuated earlier this afternoon when five pounds of dynamite were found in their South Carson neighborhood.

The bomb squad safely demolished the dynamite by burning it and streets were reopened in the area of Silver Sage and Ross Gold Park by 3:30 p.m.

The fire and sheriff's departments were called in at 12:41 p.m. when the dynamite, believed to be left over from the 1940s, was discovered.
