Carson City's Aron Harvey added another major national title to his resume at the 13th annual American Motorcycle Association Parts Unlimited Spring Classic over the weekend in Lake Whitney, Texas.
Two other local teenagers, Robert Perez and Tyler Nielsen also had strong finishes in the first major national amateur motocross event of the season.
Harvey, a 2005 Carson High graduate who turned professional late last summer, won the 250cc open division at Lake Whitney. As an amateur last summer, Harvey won a title at the National Motorsports Association Nationals in Ponca City, Okla.
In addition, Harvey had strong finishes in two pro races which offered a total of $25,000 in prize money at Lake Whitney. He took sixth in the 250 A/Pro Sport event, which offered a total of $15,000, and eighth in the 125 A/Pro Sport event, which offered a total of $10,000. Harvey was also seventh in the 4-Stroke 201-650 Open Skill event.
In the amatuer division, the 17-year-old Perez was 10th in 250 Novice Modified, 18th in 125 Novice Stock and 26th in 125 Novice Modified. Carson City's Nielsen was 17th in 250 Novice Stock and 41st in 125 Novice Stock.
