Jean Sparling DeGolia, 86, a 12-year Santa Ana, Calif., resident, died March 9, 2007 in Santa Ana.

Mrs. DeGolia was born Nov. 4, 1920, in Pasadena, Calif., and was adopted by Raymond Walter Sparling and Isabele Jean MacLean.

She married Harold Gates DeGolia Jr. on June 24, 1938, in Pasadena.

Before moving to Santa Ana, she lived at Incline Village from 1980-95.

She attended college and business school in New York, and was a child-care provider and homemaker.

She belonged to the Women's White Shrine, and enjoyed reading, creative writing and travel.

She was preceded in death by her husband on March 1, 1995, in Incline Village; by sister Margaret Kingman and brother Raymond C. Sparling.

Among her survivors are daughters and sons-in-law Edwina and Frederick Wiersma of Carson City and Cathleen J. DeGolia-Fisher and Larry Fisher of San Bernardino, Calif.; sons and daughters-in-law Raymond and Kathlene DeGolia of Tustin, Calif., and James and Terri DeGolia of San Francisco; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren and several extended-family members.

Cremation will take place at Accord Cremation and Burial Service in Brea, Calif. The ashes will be scattered near Fallen Leaf Lake, Calif.

Memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice.
