The Western Nevada Community College women's soccer team has received National Junior Collegiate Athletic Association Academic All-American honors for the second straight year.

WNCC coach Hillary Arthur said she expected improvement from her program in the academic standings and that's what happened. The 2005 team ranked 12th nationally academically while the 2006 squad ranked fifth nationally in team grade point average. The 2006 team also won the Scenic West Athletic Conference Tournament title.

The Wildcats are now three-for-three in academic honors. The 2006 WNCC baseball team, which also won the SWAC regular season title, was also honored for its academics. All of WNCC's teams that were honored had G.P.A.s above 3.0.
