Even though it was short-handed, the Carson High boys swim team still rolled to a 152-98 win over Fallon on Saturday at the Carson Aquatic Facility.

With only seven swimmers, the CHS girls team fell to Fallon 150-89. Both Carson's boys and girls teams had many swimmers unable to compete for various reasons.

Among the reasons is this weekend's regional Junior Olympics in San Ramon, Calif., in which four Carson swimmers are competing. Kevin Dyer is swimming in the boys meet while Danielle Judge, Julie Asire and Tatum Boehnke are competing in the girls meet.

For the boys against Fallon, Alex Updegrove, Paul Chang, Matt Grunert and Jacob Cornwell won the 200-yard medley relay in 1 minute, 53.09 seconds. Chang also won the 200 freestyle in 2:01.97 while Updegrove was third.

In the 200 individual medley, Grunert won in 2:10.92 while Nick Schlager was third. Scott Wandel won the 50 free in 24.87 while Luke Gentner was second in 25.62.

In addition, Cornwell won the 500 free in 5:20.75 while Wandel was second. Cornwell also won the 100 backstroke in 1:00.68 while Updegrove was second (1:10.03) and Ballard was third (1:05.63). Chang won the 100 breaststroke in 1:08.54 while Gentner was third.

Carson swept the relays as Updegrove, Grunert, Wandel and Cornwell won the 400 free relay in 3:38.25 and Gentner, Alex Peckham, Wandel and Chang won the 200 free relay in 1:45.75.

Beth Lewis was a double winner for Carson's girls, winning the 200 free in 2:13.76 and the 500 free. Melissa Wurster was third in the 500 free.

Julia Lapham was second in the 200 free, Jamie Showalter was second in the 200 I.M. while Carrie Linn was third, Linn was second in the 50 free while Sarah Crockett was third, Lapham was third in the 100 fly, Jill Stroup was third in the 100 back, Showalter was second in the 100 breaststroke and Lewis, Showalter, Stroup and Lapham were second in the 400 free relay.
