The Sexual Assault Support Services at Crisis Call Center needs volunteer victim advocates for its 24-hour service to support victims of sexual assault. Training begins April 25.


Bilingual advocates are needed, but anyone over the age of 18 can be an advocate. Call 784-8085.

Open Space Advisory Committee meets


The Carson City Open Space Advisory Committee meets at 6 p.m. Monday in the Sierra Room of the Community Center, 851 E. William St.


Topics include an Eagle Scout project proposing creek rehabilitation at the Fulstone Wetlands, sheep grazing for fuels reduction in the Carson range foothills, and the Potter and Horse Creek ranch properties.


Chronically ill children support group to meet


There is a new group of parents to children who have been diagnosed with chronic illnesses that meets 6-7 p.m. the last Monday of each month in the Aspen Room at the Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center.


Each month there is a guest speaker.

Lecture on first lady gowns Tuesday


Nevada State Museum curator of textiles Jan Loverin will give a presentation on the history of "Nevada's First Lady Gowns" at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Nevada State Museum.


Dawn Gibbons' inaugural gown will be on display. Regular admission applies.
