The Carson High boys swim team had many impressive efforts in a 148-119 win over McQueen on Saturday at Reno's Northwest pool.
Carson's girls also had their shar of outstanding swims, but fell short to the Lancers in a 165-118 loss.
For the boys, Matt Grunert, Garrett Clayton, Kevin Dyer and Scott Wandel won the 200-yard medley relay in 1 minute, 48.13 seconds. Grunert also led a 1-2 finish in the 200 freestyle, winning in 1:577.21 while Scott Wandel was second.
Clayton won the 200 individual medley (2:11.10) while Paul Chang was third. Dyer won the 100 butterfly (57.72) while Jacob Cornwell was third.
In addition, Dyer led a 1-2 finish in the 500 free as he won in 5:02.44 while Albert Reed was second. Wandel, Chang, John Wandel and Clayton won the 200 free relay in 1:38.37 and Jacob Cornwell won the 100 backstroke in 1:00.28 while John Wandel was third and Sam Ballard was fourth
Clayton led a 1-2 finish in the 100 breaststroke, winning in 1:04.44 while Chang was second. The 400 free relay team of John Wandel, Dyer, Cornwell and Grunert won in 3:31.90. John Wandel was third in the 100 free and the 50 free as well.
Carson's girls won three races, coming away with an impressive win in the 400 free relay. Tatum Boehnke, Barbara Perkins, Beth Lewis and Julia Lapham won in 3:58.31. Sarah Metcalf, Julia Lapham, Melanie Gingell and Melissa Wurster were third.
Julie Asire led a 1-2 finish in the 200 free, winning in 2:07.81 while Lewis was second. Boehnke also led a 1-2 finish in the 500 free, winning in 5:32.40 while Perkins was second (5:35.12).
Other top finishes for Carson included Perkins, Danielle Judge, Boehnke and Asire taking second in the 200 medley relay, Judge taking second in the 200 I.M. and 100 breaststroke, Metcalf taking third in the 50 free, Boehnke taking second and Lewis placing third in the 100 fly, Asire taking second in the 100 free and Perkins taking third in the 100 backstroke.
DOUGLAS RESULTS
The Douglas boys and girls teams had many impressive efforts in a meet against Lowry at Fallon. No final scores were available.
For the girls, Dana Pardee, Virginia Evans and Sara Sigala helped Douglas win the 200 medley relay in 2:17.78, Sigala won the 200 free in 2:18.25, Whitney Simpson won the 200 I.M. in 2:36.53 while Sigala was second in 2:36.97, Haley Von Schottenstein won the 50 free in 27.01 and the 500 free, Evans won the 100 fly in 1:17.77 and Simpson, Von Schottenstein, Evans and Sigala won the 200 free relay in 1:57.90.
In addition, Simpson led a 1-2-3 sweep in the 100 breaststroke, winning in 1:18.00. Paula Sigala was second and Lisa Van Den Berg was third. Von Schottenstein, the Sigalas and Simpson won the 400 free relay as well in 4:23.50.
For the boys, Marco Hyman, Paul Von, Blake Maxwell and Ryan Dykes won the 200 medley relay (1:59.33). Maxwell won the 200 I.M., Bryant White won the 50 free, Hyman won the 100 fly in 1:03.16 while Von was second, Maxwell won the 100 free, Hyman won the 100 back in 1:015.35, Von won he 100 breaststroke in 1:16.68 and Ryan Dykes, Von, Maxwell and Hyman won the 400 free relay in 3:55.19.
