It's almost time for the children to be out of school, and here are some great summer programs from basketball camp to hula. For the sports fanatic to the inspiring actor, they have it all right here in Carson City for your children to enjoy. Take a peek.

Carson Middle School Basketball Camp

WHAT: The camp consists of daily instruction and demonstrations on basketball fundamentals, group activities, and games. All participants will receive a camp T-shirt

WHO: Children entering grades fifth through ninth

WHEN: Girls: 8:30-11:30 a.m.; Boys: 12:30-3:30 June 11-14

Carson City Recreation Department: Summer Kamp 2007

WHAT: Kick Back Kamp, Rafting, Equestrian Kamp at River Bottom Ranch, Triathlon Training Kamp, Water Adventure Kamp and many more

WHEN: All Kamps will be in weekly sessions. Kamp will be in operation for nine weeks June 18 through Aug. 17.

WHAT: Hula Dancing taught by experts

And finally, parents and grandparents should take their children and grandchildren to the annual Tommy's Fishing Derby on Saturday sponsored by the Carson City Elks Lodge No. 2177.

This is a great event. It's free to children ages 2-12, and there are prizes too. Come grab a pole, and catch a fish.
