A funeral for AnnaBelle McVicar Giomi, 83, will be 5 p.m. Saturday at Smith Valley Baptist Church, 888 Hudson Way in Smith, with the Rev. Travis Walker officiating. A viewing will begin at 4 p.m.

Mrs. Giomi died May 7, 2007, at South Lyon Medical Center in Yerington. She was born Sept. 21, 1923, in Smith Valley, to Neil McVicar and Hannah Petersen McVicar.

She graduated from the University of Nevada in 1945 with a degree in teaching. While at UNR, she was a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. She later attended Mills College in San Francisco to earn her graduate degree in art.

She married Joseph Giomi on Oct. 1, 1950, in Smith Valley.

She was a teacher and an artist.

She taught Bible study and spoke for Women's Aglow. She enjoyed her friends and humor.

She was preceded in death by grandson Justin Joseph Lawrence.

Among her survivors are her husband; daughters and sons-in-law Joanne and Steve McKnight and Loretta and Jim Safford; daughters Diana Lawrence and Katherine Giomi; three grandchildren and several extended-family members.

Burial will take place at Hillcrest Cemetery.

Freitas Rupracht Funeral Home in Yerington is in charge of arrangements.
