Stalling signs with Northwest Christian

Carson High graduate Sarah-Lynn Stalling has signed a letter-of-intent to play women's soccer for NAIA Northwest Christian College in Eugene, Ore.

Stalling will be a junior, transferring from Southwetern Oregon Community College. Stalling led the Lakers in scoring during her freshman year and added 13 goals and nine assists during her sophomore campaign in which Southwest Oregon won the South NWACC Conference championship.

"As a transfer athlete, Sarah-Lynn brings maturity and experience to our team," said Beacon Coach Vern Stewart. "She has the talent to play as a defensive midfielder and still support our attack with her great shooting. She is a great person and has a solid work ethic that will fit right in with our group of players."

"I am excited to play with this group of girls," said Stalling. "They know what they are doing on the field and they are very approachable off the field, which is good for a shy person like myself.

Stalling also credits the perfect size of Northwest Christian College in her decision. "I enjoy having a small class size and knowing that my professors know me as more than just a number," she said.

"When I am struggling academically, I am usually not very proactive in getting help. Having teachers that care will help me get the help I need more easily."

Northwest Christian is coming off its inaugural season and will play for the first time in the NAIA's Cascade Collegiate Conference in the fall of 2007.
