Col. Pierino 'Pete' Cerquitella

A memorial service for Col. Pierino "Pete" Cerquitella, 75, a Carson City resident since 1980, will be 10 a.m. Sunday at Walton's Chapel of the Valley.

Mr. Cerquitella died May 9, 2007, at his home. He was born Nov. 30, 1931 in Philadelphia, to Pierino Cerquitella and Eleanor Torchia.

He married Mary Ellis on Dec. 26, 1955 in Philadelphia.

Before moving to Carson City, Mr. Cerquitella lived in Philadelphia.

He was an auctioneer in Pennsylvania for many years, and in Nevada for nearly 30 years. He belonged to the Masonic Lodge and the Carson chapter of BNI, and was an independent appraiser.

Among his survivors are his wife of Carson City; sons and daughters-in-law Joseph and Joni Cerquitella of Budapest, Hungary and Dan and Wendy Cerquitella of Seattle; daughter Marianne Firebaugh of Reno; brother John Cerquitella of New Jersey and five grandchildren.

Cremation will take place at Walton's Sierra Crematory.

Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.
