A graveside service for Robert B. "Tank" Williams, 65, a lifelong Yerington resident, will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Valley View Cemetery, with the Rev. Ernie Hopper officiating.

Mr. Williams died May 9, 2007, at South Lyon Medical Center in Yerington. He was born Sept. 26, 1941, in Yerington, to Ed Williams and Eunice Dick Williams.

He married Dora Villegas in Reno.

He was involved in stock car racing at the Rattlesnake Raceway in Fallon for more than 18 years, and the demolition derby in Yerington for more than six years. He was honored by the Nevada Racing Association for his years of participation.

He served as a council member for the Yerington Paiute Tribe for many years, and enjoyed fishing, playing the guitar and spending time with his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father and sons, John Williams and Frank Vallejo Jr.

Among his survivors are his wife of Yerington; son Arthur Williams of Carson City; sons and daughters-in-law Anthony and Krista Williams of Carson City and Russell and Kate Williams of Sacramento; daughter Toni Harrison of Schurz; daughters and sons-in-law Sheila and Jeff Dittrick of Savannah, Ga., Deborah and Richard Beemer of Carson City and Kathleen and John Pierce of Cheney, Wash.; sister Edrena Mailman of Shiprock, N.M.; 20 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Freitas Rupracht Funeral Home in Yerington is in charge of arrangements.
