Edwin Paul Slaton, 70, a Carson City resident for the past 19 years, died May 11, 2007, at his home. He was born March 20, 1937, in Corpus Christi, Texas, to Edwin Cole and Bessie Lee Denham Slaton.

Before moving to Carson City, he lived in Sumter, S.C.

He received degrees in business and public administration from Golden Gate University.

Mr. Slaton served as chief master sergeant in the U.S. Air Force.

He was a volunteer with the Carson City Sheriff's Department. He enjoyed astronomy.

Among his survivors are brothers and sisters-in-law Tom and Joann of Fresno, Calif., and James A. and Kolleen of Carson City; sisters Marilyn L. Crane of Carson City, June Hughes of Bishop, Texas, and Bety Dunaway of Sierra Vista, Ariz.; and numerous extended-family members.

Cremation will be at FitzHenry's Crematory.

FitzHenry's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
