Local governments will get some help in record-keeping from a new retention schedule being prepared by the Nevada State Library and Archives.

A hearing will be held 9 a.m. June 26 at the library and archives to adopt the new schedules, which will replace the 1998 schedule in effect now.

The Interim Administrator, Guy Rocha, is asking local government officials who work with records to review the draft records retention schedules to make sure the schedules are in line with standard government operations. "This will help local governments to effectively maintain the records needed to support their daily activities, resulting in more efficient government for staff and citizens," said Rocha.
