Joey Cusumano turned 11 in April, but he didn't spend it eating cake and having fun. Joey was in Oakland, Calif., at the Children's Hospital, fighting for his life.

You can read the daily journal written by his mother, Roseanne, and realize how extremely hard it must be for this amazing young man and his loving parents.

When you sit and read these journals, you see the ups and downs of chemotherapy, hair loss, and separation from your friends. Please take a moment to remember how lucky you are.

Some amazing women, including Mary Kuckenmeister and Sue Lamon, are helping to organize a city rummage sale to offset the family's major medical, travel and food expenses.

"This is a great kid who deserves everything we can give," Lamon said.

The golf clubs are out with this beautiful weather. We have the annual Sertoma Charity Golf Tournament coming up next month. The Sertoma club helps local programs that assist children with hearing, speech, diabetes and cancer problems.

The funds raised go back into our community to help children, so call Frank, Rick and John and get ready to hit some balls at Eagle Valley Golf Course. Your spouse must let you go golfing for this great cause.

Wine Tasting is always a welcome event and helping children get an education as well is fantastic.

Thanks to this fundraiser, my oldest is still attending college. This is a new venue for the CHS Football Booster Club, and it sounds like a wonderful time and a great way to help local boys get some well-deserved scholarships.

Soroptimist International presents "The Ghost of Mark Twain" for their annual comedy night. This performance will be entertaining as well as funny.
