Wolf Pack baseball woes continue in San Jose

Municipal Stadium in San Jose, Calif., continues to be a horror chamber for the University of Nevada baseball team.

San Jose State scored six runs, four unearned, off Nevada ace Ryan Rodriguez en route to a 6-2 WACbaseball win over the Wolf Pack Friday night.

The loss dropped Nevada to 31-23 overall, 14-8 in conference. San Jose State improved to 31-23 and 10-12. San Jose has won 12 of the last 16 games at home.

Chris Balatico's two-run double and Justin Santich-Hughes' sacrifice fly keyed a four-run second inning. Konrad Schmidt homered to lead off the fourth, cutting the deficit to 4-1.

Schmidt, Jason Sadoian and Baker Krukow all had two hits for the Pack, who return to action today at 1 p.m.

GOLFERS MOVE UP

Freshman Ryan Hallisey shot a career-low 67 to lead the Nevada men's golf team into a tie for 20th place after the second round of the NCAA West Regional at Arizona State's Karsten Golf Course.

The Wolf Pack carded a 2-under 286 in Friday's second round to move up one spot in the team standings. Nevada is tied for 20th with Denver with a two-round total of 1-under 575, 18 strokes out of the top 10 heading into today's final round.

UCLA continues to lead the 27-team NCAA West Regional after carding a 15-under 273 on Friday for a two-round total of 35-under 541 (268-273). The Bruins hold a one-stroke lead over South Carolina, which shot a 19-under 269 in the second round for a two-day total of 34-under 542 (273-269). Tournament host Arizona State and USC are tied for third at 26-under 550.
