A Fernley man was in custody Wednesday morning, suspected of stabbing another in a fight.
Lyon County Sheriff's Sgt. Cherie Rye said Joaquin Ramirez, 23, was booked into the Lyon County Jail on suspicion of battery with a deadly weapon and a parole and probation violation warrant out of California.
Police were called to the area of Desert Lake Golf Course just before 10 a.m. Tuesday for a fight.
When officers arrived, they found the victim, described as being in his early 20s, suffering from "several stab wounds" outside his home. The stabber had fled the scene, Rye said.
She said the victim was flown to Renown Regional Medical Center where he was treated for nonlife-threatening injuries.
Through the investigation detectives determined Ramirez to be their suspect. They contacted him on his cell phone and he agreed to meet with them in Reno.
He was arrested about 3:30 p.m.
Ramirez is being held without bail on the probation violation. Should that be lifted, a $30,000 bail has been set for the battery charge.
