Carson City and Lyon County deputies arrested Maxwell Thomas Scott Simon, 32, and charged him with battery with a deadly weapon Friday.

The arrest comes after an altercation at the Wiskey Tavern on Highway 50 East in Carson City early Friday morning, Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong said.

At 12:20 a.m., the Carson City Sheriff’s Office was notified a man had been stabbed in the parking lot of the bar. When officers arrived at the scene, they identified the victim, Jaime Lee Rodriquez, 28, with a stab wound to the back.

Witnesses reported the suspect had fled the area in a vehicle toward Lyon County.

Deputies from the Tri-County Gang Unit located Simon at the Bunny Ranch in Lyon County at 1:55 a.m. He was taken into custody without incident.

Furlong said reports were both parties were intoxicated and unruly at the Wiskey Tavern and both men were asked to leave. Both left the bar, but confronted each other in the parking lot a short time later, where the fight broke out and the alleged stabbing occurred.

Rodriquez was treated at the scene and Care Flighted to Renown Medical Center in Reno. He was released Friday, Furlong said.

The incident remains under investigation. Simon’s bail was set at $30,000.
