Lydia Peri finished the regular season with her second win of the year as she was the low score medalist for the Carson High girls golf team at Tuesday's Sierra League Tournament at Washoe Golf Course.

Peri's effort led Carson to its sixth straight second place finish in six Sierra League tournaments behind Douglas High, which won all six league events. On Tuesday, Douglas finished with a 481 while Carson finished with a 497.

But Douglas was missing its top player, Bethany Wurster, who won three of the six league events. When the final overall individual league standings are figured it's likely that Wurster will finish first and Peri will finish second.

Peri finished with an 84. Also for Carson, Michelle Kop shot a 91, Katy Cowperthwaite fired a 105, Julia Lapham shot a 108, Chelsea Keating fired a 109 and Elayna Shine added a 111.

Next up is the Northern 4A Championships this Tuesday and a week from today at Red Hawk. Douglas looks to be the overwhelming favorite to win the zone title while it should be a wide open race for the second and final spot to the NIAA 4A State Championship between schools such as Carson, Spanish Springs, South Tahoe and Reno High.

South Tahoe again finished a close third behind Carson with a score of 504, seven shots behind. In the previous two events, the Vikings finished four strokes behind the Senators. Reno is also coming on as they finished with a 509 on Tuesday.

"We're looking forward to zone," Carson coach Terry Gingell said. "Some of the girls feel they can improve."
