Tiny Mites roll to victory

The Carson Senators Tiny Mite Blue youth football team beat the Sparks Steelers 36-6 on Friday to improve to 4-1.

The Steelers struck first making the score 6-0, then the Carson offense came alive with two touchdowns in the first half, a 40 yard score by Tristan Woslum and a 32 yard score by Landon Trusedale right before the half.

Carson's defense dominated all night with outstanding plays from Dawson Lamb, Carl Cavner, Phillip Lopez, Daniel Morrison and Chase Campagni, who all had multiple sacks and tackles. Braxton Carter, Adam Larkin, Luis Loe III, Gabriel Tatro and Garrett Tibma also played well defensively.

Carson's offense also came alive in the second half with four touchdowns. Trusedale added another 10 yard touchdown. Cody Radtke had a 42 yard scoring run and Justin Lopez had a 64 yard scoring run. Colton Schafer also added a 64 yard touchdown run, behind the outstanding blocking of the Senators offensive line of a Skyler Duncan, Gavin Bakkedahl, Malek Kangas, Connor McCleary, Dean Poppenga, and Joey Sproles.

Carson's next game is at Fallon on Saturday.

Mitey Mites roll to victory

The Mitey Mite Blue Senators improved to 4-1 with a 33-6 win on the road at Truckee on Saturday.

The defenses took control in the first quarter as neither team found the end zone. The Senators got things going on offense in the second quarter as quarterback Derek Schafer found Mathias Williams for a 23-yard touchdown pass to make the score 7-0. After the defense held the Wolverines on a 4th down the offense shifted into high gear with a 30 yard run from David Moniz-Lewis and a touchdown run by Gage Gunzburg to make the score 14-0 at halftime.

Williams scored again early in the third quarter on a nice 36-yard run to make the score 20-0. Schafer hit his second touchdown pass to Brandon Gagnon to push the score to 26-0. Carson scored one more time on an outstanding run by Moniz-Lewis to make the final 33-6.

Defensive standouts for the Senators included Jesse Knorzer, Anthony Miguel, Nick Andreas, Jarod Butler, Luke Myers, Kyle Gagnon, Connor Larkin, Tristen Martel, Spencer Berger, Nick Salm and Brandon Basa.

Carson travels to Sparks Friday to take on the Sparks Cardinals at Don Mello Sports Complex at 6 p.m.

Junior Pee Wees roll to victory

The Carson Junior Pee Wee youth football team beat Fallon 29-0 on Friday. The opening play from the line of scrimmage was raced down the field by Joasiah Pongasi 60 yards for the score. After a three and out forced by the defense, the offense again took over. Kenny Frank took a majority of the carries then took it into the end zone on a 2 yard blast.

In the second period, Colby Brown ran a quarterback keeper around the end for a 35 yard touchdown.

Forcing many three and outs, the defense began to mix things up and move players around. Caden Lehman forced a safety. On the next offensive series, Lehman ran the ball up the middle for a 4 yard score. The point after was added by Brown up the middle on a quarterback keeper.

Frank also had a sack to set up another safety. Later in the game, Nicholas Mohlenkamp Intercepted Fallon and secured the shutout for The Senetors.

The Junior Pee Wees next play at 8 p.m. Friday at Governor's Field.

Capital Volleyball Club offers clinic

The Capital City Volleyball Club is hosting two upcoming clinics: October 12-14, a "Fun"damentals Clinic will be held for boys and girls, grades 3-6; and October 19-21, a Middle School Clinic will be held for girls, grades 6-8.

CHS girls basketball golf tournament set

A golf tournament to benefit the Carson High girls basketball program will be held on Sunday at Empire Ranch Golf Course.

Shotgun start for the two-person scramble event will be at 9:30 a.m. Registration will be taken from 8:30 to 9. Cost is $85 per person.
