The Crystal Clear Water system, which serves about 100 residents in El Rancho Estates east of Yerington, has been approved for a $2,663,635 grant to improve the water system.
The formerly private system, which the county took over in June 2006, has been beset with problems of high costs and low water pressure.
The grant will pay for a tie-in to Yerington's water system, which Lyon County Utilities Director Mike Workman said will increase service without a large increase in rates.
The Lyon County Commission will consider accepting the grant at it's meeting at 9 a.m. Thursday.
