The average price of gasoline in Carson City has risen 12 cents in the last month to $3, according to the latest survey by AAA.

The increase reverses a four-month trend in which prices had gone down, said the press release.

The largest increase was a 27-cent increase reported in Reno where the average price is $3.21. Across the state, the average increase was 13 cents for a price of $2.92 compared to the average cost of $2.76 for the U.S. following a drop of 3 cents.

"Nevada now shares the fourth highest average prices for regular unleaded in the county," said AAA spokesman Michael Geeser. Ahead of Nevada are California, Washington and Montana.

Tahoe City has the highest average for the continental U.S. at $3.29 per gallon, just behind Wailuku, Hawaii at $3.53. The least expensive gas in the U.S. is found in Monmouth, N.J., Kansas City and St. Louis, Mo., where the average cost is $2.49.
