RENO - Sophomore forward Richie Phillips has suffered a tibial stress fracture in his lower left leg and will be out of action for four to six weeks, fourth-year Nevada head coach Mark Fox announced Friday.
"We are extremely disappointed for Richie," Fox said. "He has made progress as a player but has faced a number of setbacks due to injuries in his short time at Nevada. He had two significant injuries last year and has now suffered another significant setback. We hope to get him back as soon as we can."
The 6-7, 220-pound forward from Seattle, Wash., played in 11 games last year and averaged just under one point and one rebound in limited action. He was slowed by off-season surgery on his right leg and then missed more time in January and February after suffering a torn finger tendon.
Phillips came to Nevada from Franklin High School in Seattle and redshirted in his first year at Nevada in 2005-06.
