The Nevada Arts Council is offering workshops for artists, educators and others on how to apply for and get grants.

The workshops will be held next week in Carson City, Incline Village and Reno, focusing on grants available through the arts council.

Staff will provide information for both novice and experienced grant writers on how to best prepare applications and supplemental materials. They will deal with issues such as avoiding common mistakes and filling out budget pages.

The sessions are open to artists, educators, arts organizations, public institutions, schools and nonprofit community groups.

To register, email mevargas@clan.lib.nv.us or call 687-7102 or 687-6680.

Two workshops are offered at each location, the first from 10 a.m. to noon and the second from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

The schedule is as follows:

Monday, Oct. 29, Carson City at the Nevada State Library and Archives conference room.

Tuesday in Incline Village at the Donald W. Reynolds Nonprofit Center, Trepp Room, 938 Incline Way.

Thursday in Reno at the McKinley Arts & Culture Center Board Room, 925 Riverside Drive.
