Elko man charged in sword attack at bar

ELKO " An Elko man who allegedly struck another man with a sword in a bar fight has been arrested and charged with battery.

Marek Borowicz had two replicas of samurai swords, one with a 17-inch blade and another with a 10-inch blade, Elko police said. He allegedly showed up with them after he got into an argument with Roger Veldt early Sunday morning over trying to return a jacket and cigarettes at The Office bar.

Witnesses said Borowicz hit Veldt on his chin with one of the swords before Veldt and other bar patrons were able to restrain him. Bail was set at $1,247.
