Help with fall yard cleanup offered


Extraordinary Men's Ministry is doing its Fall Call and Haul Fundraiser 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday. No job is too big or too small. The group has trucks, trailers, dump trucks, skiploaders, and car haulers and will haul away trash, yard clean-up, old appliances or cars. Call 883-3355 or 843-9370 to schedule.




College hosts Latin America photo show


"Fragments of Latin America," a collection of photographs by Western Nevada College Graphic Communications instructor Jayna Conkey, will hang in the College Gallery through Nov. 29.


The exhibit features digital photographs from Mexico, Panama, Ecuador, Chile, Peru, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, and Guatemala. The college is at 2201 W. College Parkway. Call 445-3000.




Presentation Thursday on pet care


Learn to provide the best care for your aging pet at a free presentation, "Your Aging Pet", 6:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday at University of Nevada Cooperative Extension, 2621 Northgate Lane, Suite 12. Ron Sandoval, DVM, will give tips on helping pets live happy and healthy lives in their latter years. The Carson City 4 Paws 4-H Dog Club is hosting the event. Space is limited. New venue for dance classes


The low-impact dance class taught by Dr. Thane Cornell meets 10:30 a.m. Wednesdays in the Nevada Room at the Carson City Senior Center. Cost is $5. Call 885-0552 or 883-0539.

Workshop on gift giving, family history


A Genealogy Workshop hosted by the Douglas County Genealogy Group will be 1 p.m. Thursday at the Minden Library, 1625 Library Lane.


The meeting will cover gift ideas that genealogists can make for holiday gifting.




Flu shot clinic is Thursday in Minden


Community Flu Shot Clinic will be 2-6 p.m. Thursday at Minden Medical Center, 925 Ironwood Drive. The flu clinics are open to everyone and no appointments are necessary.


The cost for a flu shot is $25. Medicare Part B patients, no charge - bring your card. For a list of all locations, dates and times, call our Flu Shot Hotline 445-5595.




Submissions sought by artists group


The Carson Valley Artists Association is asking for artists to submit their best work for the Scholarship Benefit Show. Entries will be accepted at the CVIC Hall from 10:30 a.m.- 4 p.m. Thursday. Entries will not be accepted after 4 p.m. There will be six categories for this year's show: oil, acrylic, water media, photography, mixed media and pastel. All Nevada and California artists are invited to enter their best work. Call 783-9639 or 782-3635.
