Funeral services for Lorne B. Currer, 92, a three-year Gardnerville resident, will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Walton's Douglas County Mortuary in Minden.

Mr. Currer died Aug. 24, 2007, in Gardnerville. He was born Sept. 17, 1914, to Martin and Bessie Currer in Toronto, Canada. He married Julia Clezie.

Prior to moving to Gardnerville he was a resident of Southern California. He had a career in banking, retiring as vice president at Bank of America.

He received his U.S. citizenship in 1942 and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. He was a veteran of World War II serving in Africa and France. He received a Bronze Star.

He was preceded in death by his wife of over 50 years.

Among his survivors are his sons, Bruce Currer of Spokane, Wash., and John Currer of Spring, Texas; daughter, Lori Roe of Gardnerville; grandchildren, Stefani, Staci, Blaine, Christopher, Caitlin, and Nicholas and great-grandchild, Ruby.

Walton's Douglas County Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
