Gov. Jim Gibbons today announced that he is reappointing Commissioner Rebecca D. Wagner to the Public Utilities Commission of Nevada. The reappointment extends Wagner's term on the commission to the year 2011.

Wagner's career in energy began in 1997 in the geothermal energy industry. She was first appointed by Gov. Kenny Guinn in 2006. As a commissioner, she has concentrated her efforts on renewable energy and its transmission across Nevada's vast expanses.

The Public Utilities Commission of Nevada is responsible for regulating electric, gas and water utilities as well as communications companies that operate within the state. Earlier this year, Gibbons appointed Jo Ann Kelly Public Utilities Commission of Nevada chairwoman and appointed Sam Thompson commissioner.

Information sought on poacher in Lincoln County

Nevada game wardens are seeking any tips or information on a large trophy class deer that was discovered poached northeast of Pioche near Atlanta Summit in Lincoln County.

Game wardens responded to a resident's complaint and found a mule deer that had been illegally shot and dumped off the Atlanta Mine road.

Game wardens investigating the case believe the deer was poached sometime during the weekend of Aug. 18. The deer's head had been removed, and none of the meat had been taken leaving the entire animal to rot.

Anyone with information on the poaching can contact Operation Game Thief at (800) 992-3030. There is a $1,000 reward for information leading to the apprehension and conviction of the suspect(s) who perpetrated this crime, and callers can remain anonymous.
