Lydia Peri shot her best score ever to be the low score medalist for the Carson High girls golf team in Thursday's Sierra League Tournament at Reno's Wild Creek.
Peri fired a four-over-par 76 to beat Douglas High freshman Bethany Wurster by two strokes. Wurster, who had won the first two Sierra League events, was second with a 78.
In the team scoring, Carson couldn't gain any ground on the Tigers even though the Senators shot their lowest score of the year. Douglas won for the third straight time with a 435 while Carson took second for the third straight time with a 472.
"She played really, really well," said Carson coach Terry Gingell about Peri. "I'm impressed with her game right now."
Also for Carson, Michelle Kop shot a 90, Chelsea Keating fired a 96, Katie Copperthwaite had a 98, Julia Lapham had a 112 and playing in her first tournament, freshman Elayna Shine shot a 117.
"We had a good day," Gingell said. "It was a good overall performance. I'm very pleased. I think they're going to keep improving. A good performance all-in-all."
The next Sierra League meet will be on Tuesday at Thunder Canyon.
