Mr. and Mrs. George Blakesley, owners of Rinckle Mansion, celebrated Constitution week by carrying out a tradition of her parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Mathias Rinckle, by inserting into a large potato a number of small colonial flags with 13 stars, and hanging it on their front porch. It was in l876 when the Rinckel Mansion was being built and the furnishings had not yet arrived form Paris that the Rinckels decided to attend the Centennial in Philadelphia.

Nevada continues to have a significant increase in geothermal exploration according to Bureau of Land Management officials. Nevada currently products enough geothermal electricity to serve the domestic needs of more than 25,000 people.
