Senators Pee Wee youth football wins first game

The Carson Senators Pee Wee youth football team rolled to its first win of the year, beating Fallon 29-0.

Jay Milligan took the opening kickoff and returned it 80 yards to open the scoring. A key block from Michael O'Hare sprang Milligan up the right sideline and into the end zone. Dominic Norton kicked the two-point conversion.

The Pee Wee defense led by Dalton Butler, Norton, Jacob Shaward and Zachary Kind then came out and pushed the Fallon Greenwave back to their own 7 yard line where the Senators offense took over. Andrew Gutierrez punched it in up the middle for the Senators second touchdown. Norton kicked another two-pointer.

Fallon's next offensive series was ineffective as defensive play from David Ceballos, Austin Kiesow, Gary Showalter, Tyler McCallister, Corey Jasper, Danniel Rosales, Garrett Altus and Marco Castillo was solid. The Senator defense pressured Fallon's punt attempt and was able to take over on downs at the Fallon 40 yard line. On the second play from scrimmage, Chance Banta swept left and was sprung free on a huge block by tackle Dexter Cummings. Banta cruised into the end zone untouched.

In the rain and hail in Fallon, the Greenwave's next offensive series was once again swallowed up by the Senator defense. Brandon Davidson knocked down a pass, and then Stefan Sobkiewicz returned a punt 50 yards for the score. Norton ran in the extra point. The halftime and final score was 29-0.

Senators quarterback Garrett Schafer was relieved by Butler who took over most of the quarterback duties in the second half. Running backs DJ Parker and O'Hare had impressive runs behind the Senators offensive line of Andrew Cooper, Eric Slabaugh, Brandon Littlejohn, Jonathan Collins, Kyle Cavner and Charles Hersey who controlled the line of scrimmage. Receivers Casey Reynolds, Tony Castillo and Alec Donner also played well..

The Senators who lost their first two games 6-0 to South Tahoe and 6-0 to the Reno Falcons will attempt to even their record at 2-2 when they meet the Truckee Wolverines in Truckee on Saturday at noon.
