Pee Wee ice hockey players are needed
The South Tahoe Hockey Association needs Pee Wee Ice Hockey players ages 11 and 12 for the NORCAL travel hockey team.
Know as the Tahoe Grizzlies in NORCAL the current rooster of players are from Carson City, Minden, Gardnerville, Virginia City, South Tahoe and Reno. The team travels to different Northern California locations one weekend a month and plays at home at the South Lake Tahoe Ice Arena one weekend a month.
The Pee Wees practice Tuesdays and Thursday from 6:15 to 7:45 p.m. Those interested, including those playing football and soccer who would like to play after their season is over, can call team manager Christiann Gordon, (775) 881-8223. Carpooling from locations other than South Tahoe is available.
Food For Thought putting event set
A putting tournament to benefit the Food For Thought program will be held at Empire Ranch Golf Course on Saturday, October 13.
Food For Thought is a program that provides meals on the weekends for needy children in the Carson City School District who qualify for the free and reduced lunch program. One-hundred percent of the proceeds from the tournament will go to Food For Thought.
A nine-hole putting course will be set up on the practice green outside of Mallards at Empire Ranch for the event. The event will be a two-person alternate-shot tournament. Shotgun start is at 10 a.m.
Cost for a two-person team is $10. Prize sponsors include Casino Fandango, Carson City Nugget, Tires Plus, Atlantis Casino, Michael's Cycles, Empire Ranch Golf Course, Empire Ranch Senior Men's Club. For more information, call 885-2100.
