A preliminary hearing is set for April 23 to determine if there is enough evidence to try an Illinois man on charges of sexual contact and lewdness with a child under 14.

Leonard Leland Stossel, 30, was brought to the Carson City Jail at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday. He was transferred from a jail in Nauvoo, Ill, where he had been arrested on a Carson City warrant.

A criminal complaint filed in Carson City Justice Court on March 6 alleges that between Aug. 8 and Sept. 15, Stossel fondled a 3-year-old girl, and had her perform a sex act on him, all of which allegedly occurred on Tenaya Street in Carson City.

Detective Dena Lacy said an officer from the Hancock County Sheriff's Department interviewed Stossel, who was living in Nauvoo, Ill., at his father's home.

Shortly after the interview in which Stossel allegedly admitted the allegations, Carson City issued a warrant for his arrest.

He is being held on $100,000 bail.
