The Secretary of State's office is looking for volunteers to write arguments both advocating and opposing ballot questions filed for the 2008 general election ballot.
Under state law, committees of three are appointed to each side of the ballot questions that qualify for the November ballot.
It is the responsibility of advocates to write accurate and clear summaries of the reasons to support and the opponents to write the same for why voters should oppose each question.
Secretary of State Ross Miller asked interested citizens to submit an application form indicating which petition they are interested in and which side they want to be on.
The form is available at the Secretary of State's elections division - 684-5705 - or through email at nvelect@govmail.state.nv.us.
The deadline to apply is close of business May 13.
Miller said a public workshop is set for April 23 at 9 a.m. in the old Supreme Court chambers in the state Capitol to discuss the rules and deadlines for the ballot committees.
Miller said once the arguments for and against are written, they will be sent to county election officials for inclusion on the ballots.
"This is an important role in the process and we want to get the best people possible lined up and ready now," said Miller in his announcement of the program.
Six different petitions have been filed with Miller's office for potential inclusion on the ballot.
