Carson City


April Showers dance at senior center


The Carson City Senior Citizens Center will celebrate April with an "April Showers" dance, 7-10 p.m., today. Dance to the music of "Don and Nadine." Dance lessons will be provided 6-7 p.m. by Thane Cornell. Cost is $8 per person. There will be a no host bar and refreshments served. For information, call 883-0703.




'Bark in the Park III' vendors sought


Dog Town Canine Rescue seeks vendors for "Bark in the Park III," 10 a.m.-3 p.m., Saturday, April 26 at Fuji Park. Vendor spaces are available for a $20 donation. For information and to sign up as a vendor, call 267-2059.




Vendors sought for Sesquicentennial


Carson City Sesquicentennial Committee is seeking crafters and vendors to be part of the Sesquicentennial by participating in one of the two events Saturday, Aug. 16. The Children's Museum of Northern Nevada Annual Carnival, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. or the Sesquicentennial Birthday Celebration Chili Cookoff and Craft Fair noon- 6 p.m., Nugget Parking Lot. National Public Health Week 2008


National Public Health Week 2008 ends Sunday, with the theme "Climate Change: Our Health In the Balance."


Carson City Health and Human Services, along with its many health partners, is committed to helping citizens promote a Healthy Climate by providing information on: Preparation for Climate-Associated Emergencies which could affect health; environmentally friendly travel and fuel sources; Eating nutritious food which thrives in drought tolerant climates; exercising in hot climates, greening homes and workplaces. Zephyr Cove


'Fancy Nancy' party at library today


Douglas County Public Library in Zephyr Cove hosts a "Fancy Nancy" party, 1 p.m., today. The Fancy Nancy character is based on the book by Jane O'Connor. Dress up and come to the library for a tea party. Children four and up and adults are welcome.


Adults accompanying children must dress up. The Zephyr Cove Library is located at 233 Warrior Way. For information and to register, call 588-6411.
