Jonnie Nevers who has been sick, died this evening from an abscess in the back of the throat. He was the only son and his parents idolized him. His sister Henrietta died but a short time ago, causing a double bereavement.

Matt Murphy, Nevada Inspector of mines was injured Saturday in the same accident in which is deputy, William Maher, lost his life, at the Techatticup mine in Clark County.

Investiture ceremonies were held for Brownie troop 138 whose leader is Mrs. Blake Fendrich. She read the Brownie story and then conducted the investiture for Helen Conklin, Jean Fendrich, Valerie Hollingsworth, Gail Laxalt, Shirley Martinez, Vickie McKenzie, Gloria Morris, Vickie Perondi, Vickie Rabe and Linda Pratt.

The Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribe attempts to intervene in a 21-year old water war. "The crucial, but unanswered question is why Nevada waited until 1988 to claim water rights for Lahontan Valley wetlands and Lahontan Reservoir recreation," the tribe said in a U.S. District Court motion. The Indians are attempting to gain more water for Pyramid Lake. The endangered cutthroat trout and cui-ui sucker fish may be saved if the Lake level is raised.
