This Saturday you can help Valerie Wyman and the Carson City Soroptimist Club Whole Child Program assist 75 local children living in motels, hotels and our two local shelters by joining her at Payless Shoe Source on Topsy Lane. They need your help and generosity in helping purchase shoes for local children. The value of a new pair of sneakers is immeasurable to the children that receive them. There are so many children wearing sizes either too small or sometimes too big. I remember a little boy who had on his older brother's shoes that obviously were too big. I asked him why, he stated, "My mother could only buy two pair, so my brother got a new pair and I got his, but next it's my turn." He was too cute, not mad just a matter of plain facts. In this economy I know anything would help, so come join the woman at Carson City Soroptimist International and help these children.

Starting Monday, head down to the Children's Museum Northern Nevada to celebrate, "Week of the Young Child." It's a week to celebrate all the special people in a young child's life, from grandparents, parents and those amazing caretakers that do so much to care and love our children. You can enjoy some of the museum's new exciting displays including the space shuttle launch as well as the very amazing virtual game board. It's better than a Wii, which I think is tough, so I am sure some young teens will be challenged by this maze. There is also some new information. Don't forget the Wild Horse Production of "The Lion, the Witch & the Wardrobe" starts Friday.
