At least eight windows were shot out of vehicles and businesses in Dayton between Sunday night and Monday morning, a sheriff's official confirmed Tuesday.

Lt. Jim Cupp said deputies received reports of vehicles damaged on Ring Road, Wells Fargo Road, Riverboat Road and at a dealership on Highway 50 East. The Nugget Casino on Retail Road and Eagle Fitness on Dayton Valley Road also reported windows being shot out.

"We couldn't find any projectiles but the hole in the glass looks like a BB or a pellet," said Cupp. "Someone went around with a pellet or BB gun, sometime between 11 p.m. and 6 a.m."

Cupp said the damage is estimated at about $5,000 and if the vandals are caught they could face felony destruction of property charges based on the damage amount.

Anyone with information on the shootings is asked to call the Lyon County Sheriff's Dayton substation at 246-6200 or Secret Witness at 322-4900.
