A national tool store is planning to open this summer in the former Harley-Davidson building in Northgate Plaza.

Harbor Freight Tools, one of the largest tool and equipment retailers in the country, plans to open in late July, according to the company.

The store will take up about half of the 35,000-square-foot building and employ between 12 and 20 workers.

Harley-Davidson had been there since 1998. It left in December to open a new dealership on Research Way.

Northgate Movies 10, which had been in the plaza more than 25 years, closed in February.

Northgate Plaza is a 101,000-square-foot, six-building center on North Carson Street, south of College Parkway.
